A 4am wakeup call on bank holiday Monday followed
by a nice drive down to the channel tunnel I was on route to the Nurburgring. 4 lads, a boot full of beer and the do everything BMW 3 series touring. A quick detour to Spa Francorchamps and a quick beer on the pit roof we jumped back in the car. Our aim for the trip was to meet with friends and take in as much as possible as a spectator. Walk the track. Eat as much as possible and hopefully get a passenger ride. The later for me couldn’t of gone any better. After speaking with a friendly local he offered to take me out in his 911 GT3, felted for the track and with a rally driver behind the wheel. It sure was an experience to remember as was the whole trip. I am sure I will go back but this time behind the wheel, until then enjoy a the gallery below.

Bringing back the magic of the 1970s and 80s.
My Father was flicking through the Motorsport Magazine and shouted, "Rally Cars in Bath, 20th of October". A 5.30am wake up call to get into the city for 7.00am to ensure nothing was missed. We both have a fear of missing out, but missing out we sure did not. An eclectic mix of classic rally cars on a moody, misty morning in the streets of Bath. Perfect. Morgan Motor Cars, made in the hills of Malvern
for over 100 years and, if I'm honest, not a lot has changed. This is for the better and after a quick tour around the factory, to really get into the swing of things, it was time to get behind the wheel of 00/50 Plus 8. Built to celebrate 50 years of the V8 brute and, of course, only 50 where made, most without a windscreen. It was a true joy to take this around the hills on a glorious sunny afternoon, listening to that exhaust note echo off of the trees and the wind, quite literally, in your face. After experiencing the Morgan brand thought my friends at
Williams Automobiles which has included 3 wheels and 4 but only for a short amount of time. Morgan insisted I needed to get behind the wheel of something for a bit longer than a few hours. The kind people from Malvern dropped this lovely Plus 4 for me to enjoy over the course of the weekend. A wet Saturday racing at Castle Combe followed by a beautiful autumn morning at Bicester Heritage really did give me and my young lady the chance to live with it what ever the condition. Grandstand Coachwork's recently finished the first DB3s Recreation,
and approached me wanting to show off what they created. We came up with a plan of shooting it as it intended to be driven, A summers evening on an empty B road leading to the local public house. |
